No one could lay a hand on Jesus. No one. Until it was time.
God protects who He sends. There is no such thing as “acceptable losses” with God. Each and every soul is precious and watched over, protected by the hand of God from all attacks of the enemy. There is no fear, no risk, no danger.
As long as we do His will and walk with His spirit, fully and completely submitted to His plan for us.
That’s the secret! Jesus was protected from the most powerful agents of His day. Untouchable by government, by church, by enemy. He could freely go where He would, do what He would with full autonomy. He feared no one!
But Jesus did not do whatever HE wanted. No! He never did His own will at all, He only followed where the Father led and did what the Father asked. That is the key. Yes, you can do the same, fearlessly go and do anything, as long as you go nowhere that YOU want and do nothing that YOU want to do. Only do what God wants.
Imagine the risk posed if one shook the very gates of hell, disturbing every evil thing, rescuing many from the clutches of evil, but then that one walked out of God’s plan to do a selfish act. Every demon has its hateful eyes on that one, just waiting for such an opportunity. An act of sin (disobedience, unbelief, selfish motive) opens that one to attack from many a waiting demon. When we walk away from God, walk after our own will, do our own thing, we leave God’s protective hand. If we previously made enemies in the pit of hell and became noticeable and hated by evil… We are at huge risk of our own selfish ambitions.
So, God can only grant us the power to do good, in proportion to our commitment to walk in His will only. Otherwise our doing good would put us in danger when we had moments of selfishness. God knows us and knows how ready we are to walk in His power, by how purged we are of our own plans and wishes.
Once we are ready, fully committed to doing His will and walking in His protection at all times, then He grants the power to do mighty things, and be untouchable. The answer is to pray for a clean heart, a humble spirit. To seek Holiness within our heart, not through religious acts but through submission to the Holy Spirit on a daily, even hourly basis.
There is no fear when we walk by our Savior’s side. No one can pull us away, no one can by any means harm us. No one can block our path, when it’s not our path at all but His.
Seek first His righteousness.
